Terms of Use

By the AverageClimate Editorial Team · Last updated: October 2026

These terms govern your use of AverageClimate.com. By using the site you accept them; if you do not agree, please do not use the site. The terms were last updated in October 2026.

The content we provide

AverageClimate publishes climate reference information — 30-year average temperatures, precipitation, and snowfall — compiled from the 1991–2020 U.S. Climate Normals produced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through its National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). The underlying data is a work of the U.S. federal government and is in the public domain. Our original writing, page design, rankings, and editorial analysis are protected by copyright and may not be republished wholesale without permission, though brief excerpts with attribution and a link are welcome.

Reference information, not a forecast

Climate normals describe typical conditions over a 30-year period. They are not weather forecasts, predictions, or guarantees of conditions on any date, and they must never be used as a substitute for official forecasts or warnings in decisions involving safety, travel in severe weather, agriculture, construction, or events. For current conditions and official alerts, consult the National Weather Service. We are not liable for decisions made in reliance on the averages published here.

Accuracy

We verify our figures against NOAA's published normals and correct verified errors promptly, but we provide the site "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. A station's normals describe that station's location; conditions elsewhere in the same city may differ.

Acceptable use

You may read, link to, and share this site freely. You may not use automated means to scrape the site at a volume that burdens its operation, misrepresent our content as official NOAA material, remove source attributions, or use the site or its content for unlawful purposes. Links from this site to external websites are provided for reference; we are not responsible for their content or practices.

Data updates and corrections

NOAA publishes a new set of climate normals roughly every ten years, and individual station records are occasionally revised between releases. We re-verify the tables on this site against NCEI's files and update pages when the source data changes, noting the month of the update on each page. If you believe a figure here does not match the official normals for the station named on the page, tell us through the contact page; verified errors are corrected, and the correction — not the error — is what stays on the site. Earlier versions of pages are not archived publicly.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time; the current version will always be posted on this page with its date, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be read as narrowly as possible to make it valid. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the site's operator is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page.
